My name is Yaz Al-Shaater, and I’m about to graduate from the Performance Arts course at Central School of Speech & Drama.
That’s probably not my defining feature though.
I am a theatre artist particularly interested in interactivity, comedy, and technology. I’m a performer director producer designer thing.
I run multi-award-winning theatre troupe Three’s Company, which I founded in Buxton when I was 13 (with Michael Grady-Hall and Tom Crawshaw).
I have also managed theatre venues and events for years, most notably as founder/director of Underground Venues and Executive Producer of The Accidental Festival (2006-2007).
I’m also a web and graphic designer, specialising in arts organisation and small businesses. This is the closest I come to making money. I’ve designed for Kath Burlinson, The Centre for Excellence in Theatre Training, my own Three’s Company, and dozens of others. Amongst others, I handle the websites for Working Magic, Head Press, and The Accidental Festival, as well as my own sites such as Underground Venues, Three’s Company, and OrlandoRicardo. There’s a wealth of examples of my work in my portfolio.
This is all very dry. Maybe you’d like some more personal stuff?
I was born Yacein Orlando Al-Shaater, on the 2nd May 1986, in Canterbury for anyone who cares. I grew up mostly in Buxton (Derbyshire) but I’m based in London now and probably always will be, lucky me...
I like playing the guitar, pita bread, the guardian, Joanna Reekie, going to the cinema a lot, my family, hot coffee, cold pizza, the Edinburgh Festival, languages, photography, FAT CONTENT, my ukulele, and lots of others things I can’t think to name.
That will do for now.
